About Rimowa
Rimowa suitcases have been manufactured ever since the last century. Rimowa's long tradition started in Cologne in 1898 as manufacturers of luggage under the corporate name of Kofferfabrik Paul Morszeck. Did the latter realise that his idea of a perfect suitcase would become a best-seller worldwide Today, one hundred years later, the luggage with the grooves is at home all over the world. Internationally, they are considered a symbol for the best in German quality.
Richard Morszeck, the founder's son, was inspired by an unusual material. In 1937 he launched the first overseas trunk of aluminium on the market. In 1950 there followed the first suitcase made of aircraft aluminium with the typical Rimowa grooved structure that is today the unmistakable sign of Rimowa the world over. The advantage of this design: minimal weight with a maximum of stability. Air travellers soon came to prefer the aluminium suitcases from Rimowa since they are conveniently light and can withstand extreme weather conditions without being damaged.
AA further functional zenith was attained in 1976 when Dieter Morszeck, the third generation of Rimowa management, developed the first watertight suitcases, specially designed to meet the professional demands of photographers and reporters. The waterproof Rimowa system reliably protects sensitive items of equipment against water, humidity, tropical heat and the arctic cold. No wonder that many film and TV crews use Rimowa suitcases.
That Rimowa is nowadays one of the world's leading manufacturers of aluminium suitcases has a simple reason to it. The principles of the corporate founder were consistently carried on. Craftsmanlike perfection, high-quality materials and precision processing have a tradition behind them at Rimowa. But the constant search for improvements and new ideas is among the leading corporate principles. In this way, Rimowa's product range is constantly being updated and optimised with new models and innovative details.
