In the 1930's Richard Morszeck developed the grooved suitcase which we now know as Rimowa. The clear, clean design with the parallel folds of the aluminum structure made the travel case manufacturer from Cologne famous worldwide. His inspiration came from the famous Junkers JU52 airplane which used ridges in its fuselage to add strength to its structure. Carry on sizes as stated by the IATA, Cabin baggage should have maximum length of 22 in (56 cm), width of 18 in (45 cm) and depth of 10 in (25 cm). These dimensions include wheels, handles, side pockets. Individual airlines may have different rules.
